so yesterday was the end of week one of my fieldmester at the unitarian universalist-united nations office (UU-UNO). if you don't know what fieldmester is, it is the option to take an internship of your choice for the second semester of your senior year if you are in Community School (which is like a school within my school). since they didn't allow me to do the stages program (3 periods a day to eventually create your own play and put it on at the end of the year), i decided to do fieldmester because i'm like hey, no more school? that sounds pretty fucking awesome to me. so i got it at uu-uno, which i was sorta nervous about because i don't really know much at the UN or global (or US) issues. i'm pretty ignorant about this stuff. but they accepted my application for internship, and yey! i met three other interns: sumon (thailand), marianne (the netherlands), and charles (africa). marianne is my favorite but she going back home in the next week or so because she has been working at uu-uno since september. the un is really big and complex, and i get lost going to work every day. i know the trains really well, but when i get outside grandcentral...oh man, it sucks. yeah, i know, i have the worst sense of direction! don't hate! anyways, i work with the spring seminar planning committee every tuesday. and if you do not know waht the spring seminar is, then i will tell you. this year's theme is People, Poverty, and Power and it is a three day seminar (for UU youth and adults all over). from what i have learned about it so far, i am really excited to be a participant and a planner for it. i really hope all of you can come. if you want to know more about it, please ask me.

in the short term it would make me happy to go play outside. in the long term, it would make me happier to do well at school and become successful. but in the very long term, i know which will make better memories. calvin and hobbes.
